Philanthropy

Philanthropy touches the heart of every Chi Omega. Being able to give back to the community is something that pulls women to Chi Omega. One of our Six Purposes set forth by our founders, community service and philanthropy is near and dear to every sister's heart. When Zeta Kappa was founded in 1981, we chose the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation as our local philanthropy. And in 2002, Chi Omega adopted the Make-A-Wish Foundation as its national philanthropy. Their mission is to give children with life-threatening illnesses the opportunity to have their wish granted. Since partnering with the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Chi Omega chapters from around the country have contributed over 19 million dollars and 1 million volunteer hours to support those in need. Our chapter is the only sorority on UNCG's campus that is blessed to support two philanthropies.

Every year, we host our annual "Kick For A Wish" kickball tournament, in which participants from all around campus form teams. Leading up to Kick For A Wish, we host a Wish Week where we hold benefit nights and table around campus. Proceeds from these events go to fund a child's wish. We put on an annual karaoke contest at a local restaurant, "Karaoke for a Cure," where people pay to sing and proceeds go to fund breast cancer research.
